Arrr... today was busy. For those of you that didn't see my post from yesterday, you'll need to check it out before reading on:
yesterday's post.
I've decided on computer science.
I began the day by calling the architecture advising office to schedule an apoointment. I got voicemail, so I left a message. They didn't call back within the next half hour, so I walked down there. I spoke with Frankie, Keeper of the Front Desk. She scares off most students, but I braved her fiery breath and laser eyes. After explaining the situation, she said to go first to the computer science college. I made it to the labyrinthine building and stumbled my way to the actual office. They gave me a few pamphlets (not tri-folded; more like sheets of paper) and sent me on my way.
I went back to Frankie to get an appointment. I asked to schedule one and managed to get it for 2:30. I went back to the CSC and tried to keep myself busy.
Come 2:30, I went back to the architecture building. I met with Laurie. She was extremely helpful and nice. She suggested I completely withdraw from the university for one semester, then join back next school year. It seemed to accomplish everything I needed. There was, however, the matter of my scholarships. She told me I should go down to financial aid and check what they say.
After I found the office, I explained my plans. According to them, I can't leave the university without completely losing my scholarship. I walked back to the architecture building and walked back to Laurie's office. I may or may not have entered into an epic battle with Frankie for the right to an appointment. Laurie suggested droping most of my classes and becoming a part-time student. I walked back to financial aid. They said "no." I walked back to the architecture building.
The final desicion is this: I've applied to appeal the rules. I've sent in the forms and in (hopefully less than) 2 weeks, they'll get back to me on what I can do. If all goes well, I'll be able to leave theuniversity, stay in Knoxville, get a job, and re-enter on a new academic path. Worst-case is this: they deny my request is denied, I have to stay full-time, I keep my gen-eds, I drop the only class I can that won't help me in my new major (my easiest, arrr!), and start my new academic path next school year.
I'm under a lot of stress right now (that's distress, not eustress). It's just getting really complex. I'm just gonna have to take this a day at a time...
Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
You can do it Eric, I believe in you. If I can do it then you can do it, and I've been doing it for the past three years. Just when you think you can't hold on any longer that's the time to stand fast! God will help you though it, he always does!
